The Bonn University and State Library (USL) received significantly less operating expense funding for fiscal year 2026 than was required to cover its projected financial needs. At the same time, the USL is facing substantial cost increases in several areas.

Given this situation, the USL must allocate its available funds strategically. Therefore, the USL's directorate has decided not to renew a large proportion of existing print journal subscriptions and standing orders or limit access to electronic versions available campus-wide. This measure is necessary to ensure continued reliable access to electronic journals and databases already licensed, as well as print and electronic books.

Submit acquisition proposals letting us know what you need

In light of the current budget constraints, the acquisition of monographs will need to be guided more closely than ever by the research and teaching needs of the University of Bonn. Your input on existing needs and gaps in the collection is particularly important in the current budget situation. If you have requests for new acquisitions, please submit them using the purchase proposal form or contact the relevant subject librarians directly. Your input helps us allocate available funds as effectively as possible to actual needs.
