Accessible Workstations
The Bonn University and State Library offers accessible workstations at its Main Library as well as the MNL Branch Library. This page provides more information on these workstations, including their equipment and usage guidelines.
Financing for the workstations was provided through a grant program from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) and the University of Bonn titled "Inclusive University."

Main Library:
The workstation is located in the reading room, on the right side near the copy center.
MNL Branch Library:
The workstation is located in the Media Center.

Workstations
- Adjustable height writing desk (80 x 160 cm).
- Additional table (80 x 80 cm) with a high-resolution camera system and a flexible, three-joint swivel arm.
- One office chair with individually adjustable seat height, seat depth, backrest, lumbar support, backrest resistance, seat tilt, and armrests.
Technology
- Computer with two swiveling monitors (27" 4K Ultra HD Displays) and keyboard (black, with large white script including Braille labeling).
- Braille reader Brailliant BI 40X with 40 Braille elements, 6 function keys, 9 Braille input keys and 4 navigation buttons.
- High-resolution topolino flex 2K V3.0 camera system (2.5x HD resolution, positioned using a three-point swivel arm, up to DIN A3 page text view).
Software
- ZoomText provides up to 60x screen magnification
- JAWS reads aloud content on the screen and provides high-quality, flexible speech output and comprehensive keyboard access
- Fusion Pro combines ZoomText and JAWS into one application
- FSReader 3.0 reads books aloud

- The Main Library also has a group workstation for up to four persons.
The workstations require prior reservation by email or phone:

Please provide the following information at the time of reservation:
- Your user number
- Planned length of use
- Whether support persons without a library ID of their own will be accompanying you.
You can check the current reservation calendar for the workstations in our booking system (only in German) for the Main Library ("HB LS barrierearmer Arbeitsplatz") and the MNL Branch Library ("MNL barrierearmer Arbeitsplatz").
- The workstations are intended for both students and staff at the University of Bonn as well as external users.
- They can be used during the opening hours of the Main Library and the Media Center at the MNL Branch Library.
- Visitors may bring water in sealable containers. No other food or drinks are permitted.
