Proxy accounts:
Authorizations for borrowing and ordering
Do you need assistance obtaining literature as a University of Bonn employee?
With a proxy account, you can authorize someone else to order, borrow, or reserve media on your behalf.
What is a proxy account?
University of Bonn employees can set up a USL proxy account. This allows them to assign the following tasks to a person of choice:
- borrowing and returning items
- ordering items from the closed stacks and via interlibrary loan service
- reserving items that are currently on loan
Convenient, transparent, and secure
The authorized person receives their own proxy library card. This card is used to carry out all actions on behalf of the sponsor – that is the University of Bonn employee who applied for the account. Any borrowed media are recorded on the sponsor's library account.
How to apply for a proxy account
- Fill out the application form in the service portal.
- Once the application has been processed, the authorized person will receive a notification allowing them to pick up the proxy library card.
Picking up the proxy library card
The proxy library card can currently only be picked up at the USL Bonn's Main Library.
Please note that the authorized person must present a valid photo ID, such as an ID card, passport, or driver's license when picking up the card.
