The University of Bonn offers support in all aspects of research data management (RDM) – from planning and applying for research projects to publishing and archiving research data. What is Research Data Management?
Research data management (RDM) means the deliberate handling of research data throughout the entire research process. It includes planning, storage, backup, documentation and access to data – including code, workflows and visualisations. The aim is to make research comprehensible and data reusable in the long term - for your own project and for other researchers. This makes science more transparent and durable. Professional RDM is becoming increasingly important in almost all disciplines due to the digitalisation of science and is required by numerous funding institutions.
Research Data Service Center
The Research Data Service Center provides researchers at the University of Bonn with comprehensive support in research data management (RDM) – throughout the entire research process.
The centre provides advice on RDM in line with good scientific practice, the FAIR principles and Open Science . Additionally, the centre develops basic IT services that facilitate the responsible and transparent handling of research data.
RDM at the University of Bonn
The Research Data Service Center is a cooperation between the University IT and Data Center (Hochschulrechenzentrum, HRZ) and Bonn University and State Library (ULB). Research data management at the University of Bonn is also significantly developed by the Advisory Board for Research Data (WBDF). Together with the service centre, the advisory board developed the research data policy and supplementary recommendations for action.
