Research options and access to full-texts from home

Tips and information for your research while coronavirus-related restrictions are in place.

To avoid the spread of the coronavirus, the Bonn University and State Library is only open in "safe operations" for limited loan. For this very reason, it is all the more important to be able to research digitally from home and to access full-texts. We recommend a full-text search in our search portal bonnus, as well as a comprehensive search in databases. DBIS (Datenbank Informationssystem) allows you to identify specific specialist databases and filter per subject area. The most important databases in many subjects can be found under the "TOP databases". Every entry also contains the individual terms of use. Under "Sammlungen" you will find numerous e-Book platforms where the ULB has licensed eBook packages or single titles. Under "Further databases" (weitere Datenbanken), you can also find many free databases. Via "Change Search" (Suche ändern), you can also further narrow down the search results based on e.g. subject areas.

Members of the University of Bonn can access the full-texts via VPN connection or Shibboleth. Read more on how to use of e-media items from home.

In addition, our information team is currently offering individual telephone consultation appointments on the subject of literature research. Please write to [Email protection active, please enable JavaScript.] and make an appointment.

Special regulations and information on current terms of use for electronic media

Particularly in this special time, we strive to offer our users the best possible service. Due to the current coronavirus-related service restrictions, access to our premises is limited. Therefore, we aim to make our offers available to you, independent of your location, by constantly expanding our licence-portfolio. In addition, some providers graciously offer an extension of the license terms, for which we would like to thank them.
All of this information is continuously updated in the tables below. We also keep track of all terms of use and latest changes in DBIS, our Datenbank Infosystem.
