Registration in the Main Catalogue (Hauptkatalog)
The Hauptkatalog is available to anyone for searching. However, if you register an account, you can access the following additional functions:
- "YourAccount" (see a list of borrowed materials with due dates)
- Renewal of borrowed items
- Reservation of items checked out to another user
- Order items from the closed stacks
- Permanent storage of records selected from your search results
In order to protect "Your account" from abusive transactions, you need to create a password.
Note:
The same user number and password are used for the Main Catalogue (Hauptkatalog), Digital Library (DigiBib) and Interlibrary Loan.
Password creation
The password you define yourself by clicking “Your Account” (Ihr Konto) in the Main Catalogue (Hauptkatalog).
- Enter your user number (on the back of your library card)
- Enter your desired password with a length of 4 to 6 characters (letters and/or numbers, uppercase and/or lowercase) and
- Enter your password a second time to confirm.
Changing your password or if you forget your password
In "Your Account" you can change the password at any time by clicking on “User Details” (Benutzerdaten) and then “Change Password” (Passwort ändern).
If you forget your password you can click the button "Forgot your password?" (Passwort vergessen?) and a new password will be sent to the e-mail address listed in your “User Details”.
If no email address is available, please talk with someone at the lending desk about getting a new password.
Login and Log off
To protect your personal data, you should always end your catalogue session by clicking "Log off" (Abmelden).
You can log in to "Your account" before you begin using the Main Catalogue (Hauptkatalog) or via the website during a search in the catalogue. If you select a function that requires you to log in (e.g. reserving a book currently checked out to another user), you are automatically prompted by the system to enter your user number and password.
